Class Registration & Admissions
Admissions
Applicants to The Acting Studio, Inc. must hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Admission to all acting and directing classes offered by The Acting Studio, Inc. is by application and require an interview. Admission to voice & speech and Alexander classes do not require an interview. Student admission is at the discretion of the Directors. Applicants are measured by their character, by their ability to demonstrate their commitment and articulate their goals, and by their previous experience and/or training. Foreign or out-of-town applicants may be interviewed by telephone after the Directors are in receipt of a resume which includes their previous acting training and activity, a current picture, and a written letter which outlines their reasons for wishing to study at The Acting Studio, Inc.in addition to their professional and artistic goals. All applicants will be notified by mail regarding their admission to a class or program.
The Acting Studio, Inc. does not discriminate on the basis of age, race, color, nationality, sexual orientation or ethnic origin in its admissions policy, financial aid or scholarship programs, or any other school-administrated programs. The Acting Studio, Inc. does discriminate against mediocrity, narrow thinking, and laziness.
Registration, Tuition and Fees
The registration procedure may vary slightly for each class. Applicants who have been admitted should be aware that there is a limit to the number of students permitted to enroll in each class. Class space is assigned and guaranteed to applicants in the order in which the Studio administrator receives the properly completed registration form and payment. In order to properly secure space in a class all acting and directing applicants are encouraged to carefully follow and comply with all registration instructions given when notified of their acceptance. Applicants may contact the Studio Administrator for approval of an alternate registration arrangement in some cases.
Applicants who are new to the Studio are required to make full tuition payment or installment in advance of attending the first class. Tuition fees are used for securing a space in the class and are not prorated or adjusted for classes missed except in special cases. Payments may be made by personal check, money order, cash or Mastercard/Visa. Checks and money orders should be made payable to: The Acting Studio, Inc. All cash and credit card payments must be made in person at the Studio administrative office. Credit card payments are assessed a 5% handling charge. All late payments are subject to a late fee. Returned checks and resulting bank charges must be repaid in cash and may result in a cancellation of the privilege to pay by personal check.
International Students
The Acting Studio, Inc does not offer or sponsor J-1 or similar Student Visas. Students coming from outside of the United States must find a visa solution of their own. The studio is open, nevertheless, to help students with recommendation letters or similar if he or she shall require it.
In the case of international students, payment is possible by check, credit card or through direct wire transfers. All the information relative to wire transfers will be sent upon request.
Financial Help
Several methods of financial aid are available at the Studio for those students who qualify. Special payment arrangements, limited work/study positions, and partial to full scholarships are available. To be considered for the work/study program, a student must be known to the studio for a minimum of 2 months, be currently enrolled in class, and be a student in good standing.
Withdrawal from Class and Refund of Tuition
An application for withdrawal from class and refund of tuition must be filed in person on a Withdrawal Form, obtainable from the Studio administrator. A refund is issued only in cases where applicant has complied with the proper procedures of withdrawing from a class. Refunds are computed according to the date the Withdrawal Form is received by the Studio's administrator, irrelevant of the date of the last class attended or date of notification. The Studio's share of the tuition paid is calculated on the full amount of the class tuition or monthly installment due in cases where only a partial payment was made. The processing of refunds takes four weeks. Refunds are calculated according to the following schedule:
- Withdrawal 8 or more days before the first class: 100%*
- Withdrawal within one week before the first class: 75%
- Withdrawal within one week after the first class: 50%

Withdrawal after the second class: No refund
*Less a non-returnable fee of $25.00 to cover the Studio's time and processing.
Tuition is subject to change at the discretion of the Studio. |
