The Acting Studio - New York conducts in-person (only) masterclass intensives in Meisner Acting Technique, Levels 1 & 2 (Sept/Oct) and Scene Study / Rehearsal Technique (April/May). These bi-annual classes are conducted in English by James Price, a direct first-generation protege of Meisner and the founding director of The Acting Studio - New York.* In Rome Mr. Price collaborates with Gabrio Gentilini, Laura Ruocco at Teatro Golden (Via Taranto, 36, 00182 Roma RM, Italy) and in Cairo, exclusively, with Amr Gamal at Aalam Tany (63 elnady street, Maadi, Cairo Governorate 4212246, Egypt).

MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED
Merit Scholarships are awarded at the end of these sessions to a select number of students.* These scholarships enable recipients to participate in six or ten-week acting classes or programs at The Acting Studio - New York in New York City. Additionally, participants who are not awarded scholarships receive a 30% discount on all classes offered at The Acting Studio - New York. The scholarships and discounts are valid for two years after notification.
* To qualify, student must demonstrate promise, maintain perfect attendance and have a comfortable level of English skills.

6-DAY MASTER CLASSES in MEISNER TECHNIQUE
LEVEL 1: is an exciting, 6-day intensive program designed to immerse students in Sanford Meisner's renowned system of training actors. Over the course of six days, you'll embark on a transformative journey, developing essential acting skills through a carefully structured progression of exercises, just as Mr. Meisner intended. Our studio's Level 1 master class introduces you acting priciples intrinsic to "the theatrical art of self-revelation" and emphasizes living truthfully in the moment under imaginary circumstances. You'll start with the foundational word repetition exercise, progressing to independant activities, jusification, objectives, the door work, three-moment exercise and heightened circumstances all of which which lay the groundwork for authentic pure improvisation rooted in the reality of doing. In addition, you will learn two line memorization techniques; line rehearsal by rote and conversational reality. At the end, you'll apply everything you've learned to scripted text, bringing yourself to life with newfound depth and authenticity.

Join us for this immersive experience and unlock your potential as an actor. Classes meet over six days, providing an intensive and rewarding exploration of the Meisner Technique. Please note that a mandatory a one-hour outside practice session with a designated partner is required of all participants.
(LEVEL 1 is open to beginners with good English skills, however, experience is preferred.)

*LEVEL 2: continues your journey in the art of self-revelation by building on the skills aquired in Level 1.

SCENE STUDY / REHEARSAL TECHNIQUE: spring dates to be determined.
The 6-Day Scene Study/Rehearsal Technique course offers two sessions to choose from, either in the morning or afternoon, with each session lasting 4 hours. This course is taught by first-generation Meisner instructor James Price, the founding Studio director and a protege and personal friend of Sanford Meisner. Mr. Price's Scene Study - Rehearsal Technique class is a hybrid Meisner-based approach to scene study, providing 24 hours of instruction. The class focuses on text analysis and applying the actor's technique to the rehearsal process, ultimately building a performance.
