The Acting Studio - New York was chosen by TIME OUT NEW YORK Magazine as among the best acting schools in New York City.

Many of the plays I’ve written began as ideas developed in the Playwriting 1 and 2 classes at The Acting Studio - New York. Over the past four years I've had the fortunate opportunity to see some of those plays fully realized at the Studio, and presented in productions and readings by Chelsea Repertory Company and Lab. Given this opportunity, here are a few helpful points I’ve learned:

Studio alumna ANDREA NAVEDO, a series regular on the hit TV show JANE THE VIRGIN, returns to her alma mater acting studio home to play the role of "Kate " in the forth coming revival production of OTHER PEOPLE'S MONEY by Jerry Sterner and directed by John Grabowski.  The play will be presented as a mainstage Equity-approved showcase co-produced by CHELSEA REPERTORY COMPANY, the resident  off-off Broadway theatre company of THE ACTING STUDIO - NEW YORK. and NICAVA ENTERTAINMENT.

The final directing projects from the current Directing 2 class are featured in this year's annual DIRECTOR'S CHOICE-SPRINGFEST 2015 a one-act play festival presented by the Chelsea Rep LAB featuring new directors Kendall Shen, Michael Hoffman and Natalia Yandyganova. The festival also features three plays directed by veteran guest directors Bruce Hermann and Harold Baldridge.

Many achievements and honors awarded our Studio alumni are reported almost everyday. May is an exceptional month so far. A TONY AWARD was WON (Jun 8) by Chelsea Repertory Company alumnus designer, Beowulf Boritt (Top Girls/Vinegar Tom, Twelfe Night)

Director John Grabowski directs 26 actors in an immersive event presentation of SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY by Edgar Lee Masters. The iRiver Project will offer environmental-styled black box staging, 26 actors in a cavalcade of period songs from the American Songbag and Gilbert & Sullivan, dance, and dramatized poetry from the beloved American classic by Edgar Lee Masters.

“I’m not a writer, I’m an actor who has written,” were the words that came to mind when I had first entertained the idea of joining Anne’s playwriting class. Although having once written a full-length screenplay that had gotten a lot of “heat”, I did not consider myself a “writer” but more of a “wroter”. Craft was something that I had intuited my way through in writing nearly three hundred pages of numerous drafts of what became a one-hundred and twenty page screenplay. I didn’t plan on ever writing anything again and hadn’t since.

Studio alumna, Julianna Margulies, received her 10th nomination for an Emmy Award as lead actress in a drama for the 2014 Emmy season.  Julianna was recipient for the 2011 EMMY Award for “Best Actress in a TV Drama - The Good Wife”.  Julianna who plays Alicia Florrick in THE GOOD WIFE, has received nominations for outstanding lead actress in a drama series in 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010 for that role, and
